Global warming - lecturette SSB

As the name suggests 'Global warming is increase in temperature of earth atmosphere'. There are many contrary views on concepts of global warming and there are bunch of leaders who state it; as a misconception. anyways with a belief of global warming as a threat; lets discuss causes, effects and simple possible solutions.

Causes:

Global warming is caused by multiplication of so many things. There are natural causes such as volcanic eruptions are also there . If we have to list top three man made causes which rapidly increases the pace of global warming are given below.

1)Increased pollution level and emission of green house gases:

The top contributor to the global warming is emission of green house gases. The emission could be by vehicles, industries or even by burning of waste products. The produced gases mainly does two things; one, it multiples the green house effect and second, these emitted gas being heavy gases it absorbs the heat and acts as heat storage.

2) Deforestation:

We all know the deforestation in India is  alarmingly at higher rate. This adds into global warming by cutting recycling of carbon-dioxide (CO2).

3) Depletion of Ozone layer:

The CFC and other gases produced by refrigerators, ACs and other machines will disintegrate Ozone, creating patches in the ozone layer. This lead to harmful and intense radiations to penetrate into earth's atmosphere.

Effects of Global warming:

1) Unusual patterns of seasons- hence crop loss:

Earlier days we use to have rain in rainy season; cold breeze in winter and heat in summer. But due to global warming and other effects we could see unusual season patterns and hence loss of monsoon-dependent crops. this is major concern for agriculture dependent countries like India because agriculture here are heavily dependent on monsoon.

2) Melting of glaciers and habitat loss:

The global warming has direct effect on melting of ice/glaciers. This directly effect on the habitat of part of animal kingdom living in the glaciers.

3) Increased sea level:

The above point has direct relationship with this effect. The melting of glaciers; will increase the water; and hence the sea level will increase and hence many parts of the land will go under water. Scientists have predicted that it is a possibility that, major parts of Mumbai and other coastal cities are going to disappear in coming years.

How can we control it?

Like the solutions to all the other problems; we should either curb the causes to control the adverse effects or to find a alternative to balance the cause. Below are couple of straight forward and simple solutions.

1)Controlling pollution:

As we know that vehicles and burning of fossil fuels are largest contributors of pollution; as a solution, lets cut that part out; lets use public transports as much as we can; lets switch off the lights fans and other equipments, whenever we are not using; lets move together towards reliable sources of energy such as solar, wind and tidal energies.

2)Cultivate greenery:

It is evident that the deforestation is direct cause of global warming; In simple words, there are two things which we can do; one lets stop cutting forest and two lets plant more trees and take care of them.

Bottom-line:

The bottom line is that, global warming is real and its high time to protect our planet. Even though capitalist leaders like Trump do not agree on the effects of global warming; the evidences are visible and its high time.

Crime against women- lecturette SSB

I personally believe this is one of the topics/issues which is less addressed or not at all address as far as the root cause of the problem is concerned; I seriously do not understand why are we still stuck in petrochemical mind set and not giving women equal opportunity.

gentlemen and ladies; today with this blog we will discuss the simple solutions to pluck the crimes against women from root. In our Indian society the patriarchy is so deeply ingrained and most of the population still think men are meant for outside work and women are often considered as fragile and limited to household works. By this, there is increased exploitation and crime against women. There are many flaws in our society/country, such as slow judiciary, seedless security and poor infrastructure which multiply the possibility of misbehavior to happen. Solving these multipliers will not prevent crimes to happen until and unless we address the root of the problem.

There are 3 root solutions by addressing which we can prevent crime against women to happen.

1)Women empowerment:

I consider this is the root solution to many problems including women safety and gender inequality in India. Even though we see women in every field including parliament, administration and even in defense but as far as number is considered, we are not there at 50%. we still lack behind giving equal opportunity and adequate education to girls. I believe if we make these needful, women safety and gender equality are just byproducts of that.

2)Bringing change in mentality of the society:

As I mentioned earlier we, Indians are still stuck in petrochemical social thoughts, By which disrespect towards women is still lurking in the thoughts of people. To solve this we need to change the mentality of the society from young age. Its right time to teach our children to respect each other, especially to boys to respect little ladies around them. :-) By which we ingrain values such as equality, respect and gratitude etc.

3) Creating such a supportive environment:

We need to create such a supportive environment or work space where no one wither its a male, female or 3rd gender person should not hesitate from speaking up about crime against them or bad phase that they had gone through.

Bottom line:

My only concern is, why do we need one of the Nirbhaya, Unnao or recent Hatras case to happen to speak about the major problem? Why can't we start talking/discussing about solutions? why cant we start educating the society from grass root level? I mean the daily exploitation, domestic violence and work-space embarrassments occur on daily basis. why our eye are shut towards it?

Think over it! thanks!
